It has been around for a few years now and is a test bed for Ford to release new engine and transmission option for Ford trucks. Standard Gear
A Ford F-150 Raptor Edition is a factory built off-road truck. Unlike most others that are sold as trail ready, the Raptor does not consider a gravel road a trail. The Raptor is set up in stock form to be able to handle whatever you can throw at it. The Raptor comes with skip plates and a suspension lift over a regular F-150. This alone puts it well ahead of the competition.
Available Engine
The Raptor is Ford’s flagship truck. As such, it has an impressive engine selection. The top-rated engine is the second generation of Ford’s 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine. This engine is a full redesign over the previous model. The only thing it retains is the displacement, everything else, even the block, was redesigned. This new engine produces 450hp and 510lb-ft of torque. This truck is an absolute beast.
Ten Speed Automatic
While some makers are focusing their attention on CVTs and automatic-manuals to improve mileage, Ford has instead opted to develop a ten-speed automatic transmission. Currently, it is exclusively available on the Raptor Edition, but will be making its way to other models soon. This transmission was developed in partnership with GM and allows this monster of a truck to get an impressive 15/18 mpg rating. This may not seem like much, but when you consider the size and power of this truck this is a good rating.
